2. Profile and Responsibilities:
This position requires technical expertise, superior attention to detail, and an ability to work within complex projects. The person in this position will take work seriously, will have a strong sense of duty, and be disciplined. Detailed, specialized work is the major focus. The person in this position will coordinate with multiple departments and set project schedules.
The Engineer will:
- Review bills of material and drawings for safety, functionality, and economy
- Work with the team and assembly personnel to optimize the design and construction of machine components and assemblies
- Work closely with manufacturing personnel to optimize designs or create new designs to increase overall quality, ease of manufacturing, and assembly
- Research products and components, work within the engineering team to implement new devices
- Organize internal and customer documentation
- Investigate and resolve problems; devise and implement solutions
- Use technical knowledge, existing procedures, or develop new procedures, and internal/external resources to diagnose and correct equipment and/or system malfunctions
- Troubleshoot and resolve machine operation or assembly issues
- Work with project managers and customers to enhance machine performance and make sure projects meet customer specifications and deadlines
- Work with Georg North America and customer personnel to obtain machine acceptance with minimum time and resource investment
- Be able to meet the physical requirements of the job. This position requires flexible hours, including overtime and occasionally working weekends
- Occasionally be required to travel to customer locations, vendor locations, and for training. Travel may be domestic or international
- Mechanical Engineering degree or a minimum of 5 years of relevant industrial experience – a background in the machine tool industry or transformer industry would be a plus
- Experienced and proficient in 3D modeling software and 2D drawing creation, Autodesk Inventor preferred
- Experience with designing mechanical components and assemblies
- Experience generating detail and assembly drawings with appropriate tolerancing and prepared for manufacturing
- Ability to generate accurate bills of material and learn the database software for generating and maintaining these bills of materials
- General knowledge of the operation of hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic systems
- General knowledge of machining processes and micron-level mechanical system behavior
- Experienced with Microsoft Office and competent in English grammar and spelling
- Conversant with operating, configuring, and troubleshooting applications in the Microsoft Windows environment
- Able to read and modify mechanical drawings and bills of material
- Excellent technical, communication, and presentation skills
- Detail-orientated and self-motivated
- Own transportation, punctual, safety conscious

- (Plus) Experience with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD
- (Plus) Experience with ERP software
