Summary of Position
Our Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) supervisor will initiate, implement and enforce Quality Assurance and Food Safety programs for maintaining the best quality and safe food product by managing resources, quality, and food safety activities in the plant. Our supervisor must possess a good knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and quality control systems, and basic knowledge of sanitation skills. Understands and communicates quality and food safety program and policies to Management, subordinates, peers and others as necessary. Has the ability to provide direction to FSQA team and conduct analytical practices to support quality processes and policies. To be successful in this role, the ability to adjust to a changing environment is key.

Job Specific Duties & Responsibilities
· Supervise, schedule and direct FSQA technicians who are responsible for monitoring (GMP) Good Manufacturing Practices and other quality-related policies to meet product quality standards.
· Actively resolve quality and compliance issues as they arise, ensuring timely communication with team and management.
· Verify that current documents are in use; organize forms for QC technicians.
· Lead tailgate topics and training related to continuous improvement, and/or nonconformance and corrective action events.
· Will actively participate in annual employee orientation
· Review production test plans, monitoring forms and other manufacturing-related documents to verify compliance and record-keeping for all mandated manufacturing processes, quality checks, testing and sampling.
· Manage storage of retain samples at onsite and offsite warehouses.
· Coordinate environmental sampling (scheduled, unscheduled and vector sampling.)
· Schedule laboratory sample transportation.
· May participate in cross-functional team activities such as HACCP, internal auditing, and food safety management plan teams.
· Maintain laboratory equipment, schedule preventative maintenance checks and calibrations.
· Track inventory, order QA laboratory supplies and oversee spending on QA laboratory supplies.
· Responsible for verifying that no lab chemicals or test kits in use are beyond shelf-life dates.
· Frequent inspections of laboratory and plant areas to verify GMP compliance.
· Participate in regulatory, third party and customer audits and inspections, as well as corrective action responses.
· Will spend approximately 70% inside of the plant supervising technicians and responding to issues.
Qualifications
· Associate’s degree in food science or agriculture science preferred
· Five (5) years of experience in food manufacturing, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
· Two (2) years of Supervisory.
· Technical competence with food safety and quality assurance tests and checks.
· Attention to detail, able to work within a changing work environment and schedule and scheduling experience. Excellent understanding of manufacturing process and equipment.
· Bilingual, Spanish required
