George Fox University's Undergraduate Admissions Department is seeking a collaborative leader to join our team as the Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions.
About the Job:
The Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions' goal will be to successfully hire, train, and motivate our admissions recruitment team toward improving traditional undergraduate enrollment which is critical to the success of the university. This position oversees the admissions counseling team, which is a group of committed and vibrant professionals who have had a track record of success. The ideal candidate will be ready to work with the team on engagement and sales techniques that move students toward enrollment.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Hiring, training, and coaching the Undergraduate Admissions Counselors team with positivity, care, and goal orientation while motivating them toward recruitment goals for headcount and net revenue that are in line with the goals of the university. (40%)
- Assisting in the research, development and implementation of the undergraduate student recruitment plan with the goal of growing traditional undergraduate enrollment. (10%)
- Helping create and uphold admissions standards that reflect the values and goals of George Fox University. (10%)
- Managing the recruitment of an assigned geographic territory and/or student group. (25%)
- Traveling as a GFU representative for approximately four weeks annually to manage assigned territories and/or provide support to other counselors. (10%)
- Supervising an admissions intern (10 hours/week) to accomplish core Sr. Associate Director responsibilities. (5%)
- Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
- By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
- Demonstrated experience working cross culturally with respect, appreciation and humility.
- Other duties as assigned.
A day in the life of this position:
The Undergraduate Admissions Office is very team and goal oriented. Our work has a big impact on university revenue and we take that seriously. We work hard and have fun but most importantly, we work hard and have fun together.
A typical day for the Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions involves helping the Admissions Counseling Team be successful. That could involve coaching, answering their questions and helping them problem solve, plan for the future, track progress towards goals, etc. There is also daily interaction (phone, email, video, in-person) with prospective students/families in this person's assigned recruitment territory. Many days also include meetings with members of our immediate team as well as colleagues across campus relating to our admissions work.
We're looking for candidates who have:
- A Bachelor's Degree or further education.
- 3 years of increasing responsibility in College Admissions, Sales, Customer Service, Retail, or other customer-facing industries and a demonstrated ability to produce results within the context of a team environment.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Strong self-motivation, initiative, goal setting skills, the ability to set objectives and a desire to learn and grow.
- Prior management experience is preferred but not required. Ability to demonstrate leadership outside of a management position could also be considered.
- Willingness to work cooperatively and constructively with a wide variety of people and the ability to speak to changing demographics in the country and its effect on the recruitment of students.
- The ability, willingness and availability to travel, including by car and airplane. Must have a valid driver's license.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing, including on telephone, and to understand and follow instructions.
