What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of University Housing position at George Fox University - Staff and Administrator?
George Fox University's Student Life Operations Department is seeking a highly skilled and motivated team player to fill the role of Director of University Housing.
About the Job:
The Director of University Housing leads the process of all student housing logistics and system management. This person is the lead in bridging communication of housing logistics between other community partners including but not limited to, admission, plant services, and residence life.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Housing Operational Oversight. (40%)
- Overseeing all operational components related to the on-campus housing processes.
- Managing all billing for meal plan, housing, and residential fines in partnership with Student Accounts to ensure charges are properly assessed.
- Implementing and reviewing policies for all student housing processes, including but not limited to: room changes, early arrival and late stay requests, medical accommodations (in collaboration with the Disability and Accessibility Services Office), financial petitions, and break/summer housing.
- Assisting in the management of housing budgets.
- Managing the audit and upkeep of all housing data including but not limited to: housing locations, housing projections, housing and meal plan surveys, and maintenance requests.
- Overseeing logistical systems, including on-campus laundry, key and ID card accesses, and common and public space utilization.
- Coordinating and managing all move-in and move-out policies and processes.
- Coordinating, communicating, and operationalizing all new and returning student housing placement logistics.
- Developing and communicating strategic plans for the future of university housing.

Housing System Administration (30%)
- Managing the housing software system (StarRez) by monitoring user access, onboarding new users, auditing daily imports, exports, and transactions, and planning system upgrades.
- Coordinating all maintenance and troubleshooting needs in order to assure all elements of the system are operating correctly and efficiently for all users.
- Responsible for being the housing point-person for WebTMA, TracDat, PeopleSoft, Fox360, and other interdepartmental software as they are implemented.
- Assisting staff users in creating and implementing policies and workflows within StarRez.

Communication and People Operations. (10%)
- Addressing parent and student concerns related to housing and meal plans.
- Managing and collaborating the new student housing on-boarding and move-in processes.
- Overseeing all communication related to university housing including but not limited to housing, residence life, and student life email inboxes, phone calls, and walk-ins.
- Managing the Housing Operations Assistant (student employee) and assisting with oversight of all student employees in the Student Life office.

Data Reporting (10%)
- Managing monthly, semester/term, and annual housing assessments and reports.
- Overseeing reporting processes and procedures for the housing management system (StarRez).
- Managing and communicating housing projections and data that informs the future of university housing initiatives and occupancy.
- Implementing, analyzing, and reporting on the housing and meal plan surveys.

Interdepartmental Collaboration (10%)
- Serving on University and departmental committees as appropriate to the position.
- Coordinating with Residence Life leadership in addressing student concerns related to housing.
- Coordinating with admissions, plant services, and IT in developing and implementing processes for residential students.
- Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
- By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
- Demonstrating awareness, respect, and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc. and works well with a variety of people.
- Other duties as assigned.
A day in the life of this position:
Managing the housing software and housing processes for a residential population of 1500. Developing and executing communication of the housing process and needs to students and the great campus community. Providing updated data for Operations Leadership to make informed decisions related to housing. Develop strong working relationships with admissions, plant services, and residence life. Serving residential students well and having them "Be Known" throughout their housing experience.
We're looking for candidates who have:
- A Bachelor's degree.
- Technical and systems competency.
- A high level of leadership and responsibility.
- The ability to establish and maintain strong collaborative relationships.
- Strong administrative, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Excellent computer and organizational skills.

- A Master's degree or 2-3 years of experience in housing.
- Experience with utilizing and managing the housing system StarRez.
- Data Development experience.

- Experience working with college students.
