Junior Accountant

George Gervin Youth Center seeking a dedicated Junior Accountant to join our financial team.

Junior Accountant responsibilities

• Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded

• Update accounts payable and perform reconciliations

• Assist in the processing of balance sheets, income statements, and other financial statements

according to legal and company accounting and financial guidelines

• Assist with reviewing expenses, payroll records, etc., as assigned

• Update financial data in databases to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately

available when needed

• Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports

• Assist senior accountants in the preparation of monthly/yearly closings

• Assist with other accounting projects

Junior Accountant requirements

• BSc/Ba in accounting, finance, or a relevant field

• 0-2 years experience in accounting

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Excellent organizing abilities

• Great attention to detail

• Good with numbers and figures and an analytical acumen

• Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices (GAAP)

• Excellent knowledge of Excel and MS Office and familiarity with school finance software

programs, MIP, and Abila by community brands

• nonprofit accounting-preferred

• understanding of grants in a nonprofits-preferred

• Qualifications (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) are a plus but not required

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times.
