Position Summary:
The Strategic Buyer/Planner is responsible for managing procurement strategies, vendor relations, and inventory planning to ensure optimal supply chain efficiency and cost-effectiveness. This role involves identifying supplier opportunities, negotiating contracts, analyzing market trends, forecasting demand, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet the company's needs.
Key Responsibilities:
· Procurement Strategy: Develop and execute strategies for sourcing materials, components, or services to meet company needs while ensuring cost control and quality standards.
· Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure timely delivery, negotiate favorable terms, and monitor performance.
· Inventory Planning: Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., manufacturing, management, and sales) to forecast demand and develop inventory plans to ensure optimal stock levels.
· Market Research & Trend Analysis: Continuously monitor the market for new suppliers, cost trends, and emerging technologies. Use this information to adjust strategies and improve purchasing decisions.
· Contract Negotiation: Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers, ensuring favorable terms and conditions that align with the company’s objectives.
· Data Analysis & Reporting: Use data analytics to evaluate purchasing performance, supply chain trends, and cost-saving opportunities. Provide regular reports to management.
· Risk Management: Identify potential risks in the supply chain and develop strategies to mitigate them, ensuring business continuity.
· Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with various departments (e.g., operations, finance, R&D) to align procurement and planning activities with business goals.
· Process Improvement: Continuously assess procurement and planning processes for efficiency improvements and cost reductions.
Skills and Qualifications:
· Strong negotiation and communication skills.
· Analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
· Knowledge of supply chain and inventory management best practices.
· Proficiency in MS Office Suite and ERP systems, Infor visual preferred (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
