What are the responsibilities and job description for the Truck Mechanic position at George J. Igel & Co., Inc.?
Report to: Truck Shop Foreman
Work Hours: 12:00 p.m. to 10 p.m.; Overtime and Saturday work will be required occasionally.
Summary: Inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain passenger, light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks. Repair and maintain equipment and machines related/associated/mounted to trucks.
Goals: Work diligently and with a positive attitude to maintain Igel and DBM fleet vehicles. Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment. Be willing to work with and alongside teammates to accomplish tasks.
Duties:
- Diagnose and repair all electrical and mechanical systems.
- Identify and record parts and/or part numbers needed for repairs and report them to the parts department.
- Utilize scan tool to retrieve diagnostic trouble codes, and utilize bi-directional functions to perform system tests, calibrations, regens, etc.
- Utilize shop repair software to assist in diagnosis and repair of vehicles.
- Utilize tablets to create and complete work orders.
- Keep shop facility and personal workspaces clean and free of clutter.
- Perform annual DOT inspections.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A CDL will be considered preferred, but is not required.
- Must be willing to obtain CDL within six months of date of hire.
- Must be able to pass a drug test
