Workers’ Compensation Coordinator
Reports to: Vice President of Safety and Employee Development
FLSA Status: Exempt
Hours: 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., unless otherwise dictated
Job Location: 3500 Alum Creek Drive, Columbus OH, 43207
Responsibilities:
- Compile and keep personnel injury records for employees
- Communicate with medical providers, physical therapists, nurse case managers and injured workers about claim status as well as return-to-work options
- Communicate with Field Operations, and other managers as necessary, to coordinate return-to-work options
- Attend workers’ compensation quarterly briefings regarding claims management with Company’s third party administrator, attorney, nurse case manager, and physical therapist
- Develop and produce internal incident investigation reports as well as claims-related reports for management review and analysis
- Prepare documents for internal and external stakeholders, such as attorneys and regulatory bodies
- File the SI-7 for the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation
- Coordinate initial injury care of employees with the Igel Safety Team
- Track and pay injured workers for time related to light duty, temporary total disability, physical therapy and medical appointments
- Transport injured workers to and from medical appointments as needed
- Know and adhere to all company policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Be fully computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office products
- Be exceptionally detail-oriented
- Possess excellent time management skills, public speaking skills, problem-solving skills and both verbal and written communication skills
- Exhibit exceptional organization skills, leadership and interpersonal skills
- Must have a motor vehicle record that satisfies the company’s insurance requirements
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening. (George J. Igel & Co., Inc. is a BWC Drug-Free Workplace and tests for marijuana)
Preferred Qualifications:
- General heavy civil construction knowledge
- Three (3) years of work experience with a private or public company with similar work experience as a workers' compensation coordinator or similar role
- Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS) designation by the Insurance Risk Management Institute
