What are the responsibilities and job description for the LTSR Nurse position at George Junior Republic?

Summary of the position: The LTSR nurse is the primary care staff responsible for the delivery of medical services provided to consumers in the program and is a part of the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist physician in the examination and treatment of consumers, employees (for physicals only).
- Process newly admitted consumers
- Offer and provide medical education to consumers. Education may include disease specific information, adherence, growth and development, treatment education, psycho/education, universal precautions, sexual health, nutrition and weight management, and specialty conditions (i.e. diabetes).
- Triage adult complaints and concerns at least twice daily, or more often as needed.
- Refer both staff and consumers for emergency medical services to various medical facilities when indicated
- Process various tests and samples for diagnostic procedures
- Administer various vaccinations and medications as prescribed.
- Work in conjunction with the Wellness Center and the Director of Health Services in accessing and ordering medications and medical supplies as required and store in the appropriate location.
- Assist in coordination of follow-up and aftercare for each consumer’s disposition community and collaboration with associated providers
- Document daily encounters with consumers (MAR, EHR)

Education | Education supporting licensure as indicated below. |
Licensure | Active/Valid License in PA as an RN or LPN |
Years of Experience | One year of experience working as a nurse in an adult psychiatric setting |
Computer Experience | Microsoft Applications and Electronic Health Records |
Other | Able to provide empathetic care to consumers, well organized and able to work as part of a team. |
