JOB OVERVIEW:
The primary purpose of the Service Technician position is to perform high-quality repair, maintenance, and diagnostic services on vehicles in accordance with manufacturer specifications and safety standards. The Service Technician ensures that vehicles are properly serviced, troubleshooting issues and resolving mechanical or electrical problems efficiently. By delivering exceptional technical expertise and maintaining a high level of workmanship, the Service Technician contributes to customer satisfaction, vehicle reliability, and the overall success of the service department. Additionally, they help maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while adhering to all industry standards and regulations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs work as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
- Diagnoses cause of any malfunction and performs repair.
- Communicates with the Service Consultants immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
- Communicates with the parts department to obtain needed parts.
- Saves parts of the job under warranty or if requested by the customer.
- Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
- Road tests vehicles when required or refers to the test technician.(Records mileage driven on road test on repair order)
- If a customer complaint cannot be duplicated, no other necessary repairs will be performed
- Keep shop area neat and clean.
- Participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools and events.
- Keeps abreast of manufacturer’s technical bulletins.
- Supervises work of any Service Apprentice assigned.
- Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
- Ensures that customer’s cars are kept clean. Notifies the Service Consultant immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1 year certificate from college, technical school, or 3-6 months related experience
- ASE certificate preferred
- Valid Florida driver license
- GM/Domestic Experience Preferred
- Transmission experience is a plus!
- Ability to pass pre-employment screenings: Motor Vehicle Report, National Background Verification, and Urinalysis screening
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance manuals and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly, apply math skills for accurate estimates and calculations, and use reasoning to diagnose and solve complex vehicle issues.

TRAINING:
Any online, web based or satellite training will be paid at a rate of $10.00 per course hour as defined on the course information page. This pay applies only if the course is passed. You will be reimbursed for any A.S.E. test restoration fees when that test is passed and only while in the employ of George Moore Chevrolet, Inc.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
The Service Technician is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. S/he is required to sit, climb or balance and taste/smell. S/he must lift within the parameters of the responsibility of the job. S/he must have close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. S/he will be regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration, wet and/or humid conditions, the risk of electrical shock, fumes or airborne particles, toxins or caustic chemicals, high noise levels and explosives.
