OBJECTIVE:
A teacher assistant, a teacher's aide, supports a lead teacher in charge of a classroom. The professional reinforces lessons by tutoring individual students or small groups. Their duties include interacting with students, supervising projects, creating lesson plans, documenting progress, and overseeing lesson preparations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Prepare classroom equipment and instructional materials for lessons.
- Perform recordkeeping duties associated with the classroom.
- Instruct students in proper classroom procedures and behavior.
- Collaborate with teachers and parents regularly regarding student progress.
- Adapt instructional materials as necessary to meet special education guidelines.
- Other duties as required, or as assigned.
PROFESSIONALISM:
- To be punctual and be available in the school during official working hours.
- To comply with policies, standards, rules, regulations, and procedures of the school.
- To take precautions to protect student records, equipment, materials, and facilities.
