George Walton Academy currently seeks a Custodian to work full-time in our facilities department. The custodian maintains a clean, safe, and functional learning environment by performing routine cleaning duties, minor repairs, and assisting with event setups, while also ensuring the school building and grounds are well-maintained.

Cleaning
Key Responsibilities:
- Dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and scrubbing floors in classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, cafeterias, and other areas.
- Cleaning windows and mirrors.
- Cleaning and restocking restrooms.
- Emptying trash receptacles and bagging trash for proper disposal.
- Vacuuming and shampooing carpets.
- Performing routine maintenance on custodial equipment and supplies.
- Changing light bulbs and ceiling tiles.
- Reporting any needed repairs or maintenance issues.
- Assisting maintenance personnel with major repair work.
- Setting up tables and chairs for events.
- Arranging furniture and equipment as needed.
- Assisting with the setup and tear-down of events.
- Assisting in loading and unloading supplies.
- Following safety procedures and using cleaning chemicals and equipment properly.
- Assisting during emergency (inclement weather) situations.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in custodial work is preferred.
- Ability to lift and carry items.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a school environment and interact with students and staff
- Full-time position, 12-month employee
- Some evening and weekend hours required
