What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fleet Operations Manager position at Georges Inc?
SUMMARY: The Fleet Operations Manager is responsible for daily and strategic operations of George’s private fleet and shuttle operations. This position will support asset management, cold storage warehousing, and trailer pool management. Success as a transportation manager looks like strong operational leadership through people management, cost management, and strategic revenue growth while building key relationships and solving general transportation issues as it relates to asset management, warehousing, or DOT compliance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Responsible and accountable for the operation and financial execution of the private fleet operations.
- Optimization of assets and drivers to reduce cost and drive value for George’s.
- Customer satisfaction as it relates to successful deliveries, on-time performance, load integrity via good driving, and equipment performance through excellent asset management.
- Oversee fleet supervisor duties including driver issues, recruiting, hiring, and disciplinary actions.
- Oversee execution of all fleet reporting including monthly financial reports, ad-hoc analysis, and annual or quarterly reviews.
- Lead a culture of safety excellence within responsible operations and influence culture broadly across George’s operations.
- Ensure full compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Department of Transportation (DOT), Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), California Air Resources Board (CARB), International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA), Highway Use Tax (HUT), and other regulations.
- Provide dotted line management and leadership to team member within transportation.
- Assist transportation leadership in all matters as the business requires.
- Ensure shipping documents related to private fleet and shuttle operations are properly filed.
- All other duties requested.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will have supervisory responsibility.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Required
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, supply chain, or related field OR 4 years of logistics experience or comparable combined experience.
- 1 year of supervisory experience.
- Strong computer skills, which includes Microsoft Office Suite.
- Preferred
- Strong regulatory knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, and other regulatory requirements.
- 1 year of shipping, warehousing, or related experience.
- 1 year of dedicated asset fleet management
