What are the responsibilities and job description for the Process Safety Management Coordinator position at Georges Inc?
SUMMARY: The Process Safety Management (PSM) coordinator is responsible for assisting in the maintenance of all 14 elements under process safety management for the plant ammonia system under the leadership of facility management. The PSM Coordinator is responsible for preparing risk management plans and ensuring the accuracy of emergency contact information and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Maintain PSM documentation and training records that pertain to the Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Plan (RMP) program.
- Organize, schedule, and conduct PSM meetings, compile and maintain PSM action item logs, assist in completing items on the action item log.
- Coordinate with third parties as necessary to schedule work on ammonia refrigeration system.
- Set up training with the local fire departments, and the LEPC to include HAZMAT drills and tabletop exercises.
- Participate in ammonia system operations as necessary.
- Assist with inspection and maintain the HAZMAT equipment in accordance with 29CFR 1910.119.
- Identify gaps in procedures and processes and collaborate with PSM team to develop solutions.
- Organize and provide PSM-mandated training to all applicable Team Members and Contractors
- Review refrigeration action plans for ammonia-related projects to ensure compliance and viability with the PSM program.
- Organize and provide leadership concerning all 14 elements of PSM by reading and reviewing mechanical and electrical drawings, procedures, and ammonia-related programs and policies.
- Serve as primary respondent in the event of any PSM audit activity.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will not have supervisory responsibility.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Required
- High school diploma
- 5 years of experience working with PSM-associated ammonia refrigeration program
- Refrigerating Engineers and Technicians Association (RETA) membership w/Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator (CIRO) or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
- Experience working with OSHA and/or EPA
- Ammonia Refrigeration (2 stage system)
- Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record
- Speak, read & write fluently in English
- Excellent organizational skills, file management and document organization
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Preferred
- Associate Degree or Technical Certificate
- Excellent mechanical aptitude with ability to handle multiple projects at one time
