FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITY
Under direct supervision, this employee functions as a part-time circulation clerk at the Southern Georgetown Community Library, a new branch of the Georgetown County Library system on Powell Road between the Santee and Sampit communities. Responsibilities include operating an automated circulation system, assisting patrons with book requests, shelving returned items, maintaining daily statistics, processing library cards, and related duties. Work schedule includes weekdays along with some Saturdays and early evenings.
SKILLS REQUIRED
Position requires good communication skills with adults and with youngsters as evidenced by a generally positive public-service demeanor. Accuracy and a task-oriented nature are also important traits. Must be able to operate a typewriter, computer, photocopier, and other office equipment. Should be able to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects weighing approximately up to twenty-five pounds. Computer skills are a very important part of this job. A positive nature with youngsters is likewise important.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent with a year of clerical experience is desired. Having a valid South Carolina Driver’s License is also preferred.'
