Reporting to the Vice President for Georgetown University’s Medical Center, the Senior Director of Operations will serve as a key convener, collaborator, and project manager for the GUMC Advancement team, who are working to advance and secure significant philanthropic support for Georgetown’s Medical Center. Leading and working on a wide range of projects and activities, from the directive of the VP, this role will work to enhance and accelerate the office of the VP, the entire Medical Development team, and partnership with central Advancement. This role will be highly collaborative; interacting with colleagues from the office of the Executive Vice President for GUMC, MedStar, University campus, and external constituents - all to strengthen, extend and leverage ties with critical stakeholders. Additional duties include, but are not limited to :

Assist in the creation, planning, and execution of top strategic and operational priorities for GUMC Advancement.

Manage key projects and build processes when necessary.

Working closely with various subject matter experts, act as a natural builder with an eye to improving existing partnerships, and the optimal use of policies, programs, and initiatives that will only help the GUMC Advancement team reach new heights in fundraising success.

Work with the VP in helping to create, develop, and coordinate strategies for advancement initiatives, representing the VP in specified meetings, and convenings.

Participate in relevant discussions and strategic planning, providing general operational and project-related assistance to senior development officers, both related to fundraising work and personnel matters.

Partner closely with other internal colleagues in helping to design, implement, and monitor processes to track GUMC campaign goals, fundraising progress, and the work of individual portfolios and philanthropic opportunities, effectively providing project management and tactical support to the GUMC frontline fundraisers.

Work Interactions

This role will collaborate frequently with the Office of the Executive Vice President for Health Sciences and Executive Dean School of Medicine and their senior staff. The position will also work closely as a GUMC Advancement resource to colleagues across Georgetown’s campus and within the MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. This position will also collaborate with the centralized Office of Advancement teams, including Stewardship, Communications, Annual Fund, Alumni Engagement, DATA, Prospect Management, Revenue Management, Campaign Operations, Special Events, Donor Events and Engagement.

Requirements and Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience

At least 8 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in strategic planning, non-profit management, higher education advancement, project management, communications, or a related field, with at least five years at a senior-level role

Proven track record of success in spearheading strategic initiatives and driving innovation in a higher education setting or another similarly complex organization

Ability to coordinate the work of fundraising with the university’s academic operation and financial priorities

Outstanding written and verbal communication and ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at different levels within the organization

Strong understanding of financial concepts and budgeting principles

Demonstrated ability in project management and process improvement with a collaborative, team-oriented, and influential leadership style

Preferred Requirements and Qualifications

An interest in and knowledge of healthcare systems

Georgetown University institutional knowledge

Demonstrated experience in effective and successful organizational change management

Experience with University and Academic program budgets

Pay Range :

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is :

80,429.00 - $157,238.93

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
