The Board of Regents is the university-wide advisory board whose members serve as Georgetown's most senior ambassadors. The Regents provide counsel to the president and administration and provide leadership in philanthropic support to Georgetown. Through strategic engagement and content creation, this position ensures volunteers' continued personal connection with Georgetown to yield regular major gifts. The Regents are an essential part of OA's overall purpose to support the mission and strategic ambitions of Georgetown University, especially as we near the conclusion of our $3 billion dollar Called to Be campaign.

The Associate Director, Board Engagement provides essential planning, communication, and project management to strategically engage Georgetown University's Board of Regents, the highest-level volunteers within Georgetown's Office of Advancement (OA). Reporting to the Director, Board Engagement, they are responsible for the overall facilitation of Board of Regents meetings, logistics, and projects, including board meeting content and management of the board's budget. The incumbent oversees the planning for the board's three annual multi-day meetings and regular meetings of the executive committee. They also assist with the planning and success of the meetings of the seven committees of the Board of Regents. With assistance from the Coordinator, Board Engagement, they oversee the day-to-day operations and administration of the Board of Regents and have additional duties that include but are not limited to :

Board Meetings and Communication

  • Coordinate all aspects of three annual board meetings and other key events and meetings (e.g. executive committee meetings).
  • Develop, manage, and track plenary content for board meetings, in partnership with the Senior Director of Board Engagement.
  • Oversee committee engagement / health and work with internal partners and committee chairs to change or improve practices, as needed.
  • Prepare, brief, and provide support for plenary session speakers, staffing three in-person Regents meetings per year, including set up, check in, and note taking.
  • Maintain comprehensive records and files for all board-related activities and actions, providing support to the Board's chair, vice chair, and executive committee.
  • Prepare for and follow up from internal and external Board of Regents meetings, creating and / or distributing regular communications to the board on behalf of university leaders.
  • Manage the board's website and internal and external communications, with support from the Coordinator, Board Engagement.

Internal and Administrative Support

  • Create all materials for Regents meetings, including agendas, speaker bios, pre-reading, and slide presentations.
  • With support from the Coordinator, Board Engagement, manage all Regents-related records and activities, tracking board terms and committee assignments.
  • Optimize and / or maintain the board's administrative operations and systems.
  • Manage and reconcile the board's budget, ensuring the Regents governance process is on track year to year.
  • Provide support to colleagues around special projects involving Regents.
  • Manage projects and tasks as assigned by the Director, Board Engagement.
  • Work Interactions

    This position works with colleagues across the institution, including university leadership, faculty, and members of many teams across OA, including Development, Strategic Initiatives, Campaign Planning, Donor Engagement, and Special Events. They regularly work with members of the board, particularly the board's chair and executive committee.

    Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • 3-5 years in the field of higher education development; event planning experience; fundraising knowledge
  • Strong working knowledge of Google Workspace suite, Zoom, and Microsoft Office
  • Extraordinary organizational skills, attention to detail, and follow-through
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work and contribute in a team environment
  • Professional demeanor, interpersonal skills, relates easily to a wide range of groups
  • Experience working with volunteers or high-level potential donors, boards, and issues preferred
  • Experience with Salesforce or another CRM preferred

    Pay Range :

    The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is :

    54,616.00 - $100,493.33

    Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
