Community Engagement Development Manager for Department of Performing Arts - Georgetown College - Georgetown University

Georgetown University's Department of Performing Arts fosters artistic excellence, interdisciplinary learning, socially engaged performance, and the spirit of collaboration. Home to the College's undergraduate degree programs in American Musical Culture and Theater & Performance Studies as well as dozens of performing groups in music, theater, and dance, the Department features a renowned faculty and close partnerships with leading arts organizations from the D.C. region and beyond.

The Community Engagement Development Manager supports the overlapping missions of the Theater and Performance Studies (TPST) Program and Davis Performing Arts Center (DPAC) as they steward artistic, community, educational, and broad-based interdisciplinary initiatives that typically reach over 10,000 patrons annually. They amplify and center the work of faculty, students from across campus, and guest artists who participate in residencies in the Home Season, connecting community partners, alumni and project-specific allies with our initiatives and vice-versa.

Reporting to the Artistic Director of the Davis Performing Arts Center, the Community Engagement Development Manager works closely with the Davis Center Artistic Director, TPST Program Director and faculty, as well as the Public Relations and Special Events Manager, General Manager, Academic & Faculty Affairs Manager, and all other DPA staff. They have duties that include but are not limited to:

Supporting the Artistic Director in disseminating the home season mission and broader work of DPAC and the TPST Program, to a range of stakeholders that include collaborators/ partners from on and off campus - for example, core partnerships with numerous DC organizations such as the Ammerman Arena Stage partnership, and collaborations with many other theaters and organizations), as well as with guest artists, alumni, other academic units, prospective donors, and the wider public.
Being a departmental collaborative liaison to core programmatic partnerships with a range of interdisciplinary initiatives, such as the Racial Justice Institute, Laboratory for Global Performance and Politics, Humanities Initiative, Georgetown Environment Initiative, Disability Studies, and others.
Coordinating logistics and providing outreach and project management support for a range of artistic and academic special events, with and on behalf of TPST's academic program and Davis's public research, learning and social initiatives; and interfacing with other units on campus as well as off-campus partners (including theaters, embassies, schools, and cultural organizations).
Promoting TPST and DPAC in their interdisciplinary involvement and highly active community engagement through, but not limited to, website content development, social media, curation of print and web materials.
Representing TPST and Davis in our commitments to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion & Accessibility, and advancing these efforts.
Engaging in on and off-campus audience development - such as targeting specific academic departments and shepherding their participation for particular events, including home season shows and auxiliary events.
Supporting the TPST Director and DPAC Artistic Director in development efforts, playing a key role with alumni and donor relations, including via seasonal correspondence from faculty, alumni web-database and digital storytelling project/s; and planning with class reps and stewardship of communication around TPST/Davis alumni events, etc.
Stewarding the display elements of the Davis Center lobby as they pertain to wraparound programming for TPST events, as well as displays of archival performances (video monitors, photo displays etc.) in consultation with Program Directors.
Coordinating special student events with the wider community as envisioned by the Artistic Director, Program Director, and faculty (outings to performances at DC theaters, guest residencies.

The Community Engagement Development Manager interfaces with faculty and students and works closely with the Chair, Program Directors, a wide range of stakeholders, including donors, alumni and a wide range community partners; represents and provides a "public face" for the Department; and serves as a public partner of (and when needed as "proxy" for) faculty leaders in TPST/ Davis Center.

Qualifications:
Bachelor of Arts
At least 3 to 5 years of experience in administrative support for the performing arts and community engagement, preferably in an academic and liberal arts context
Attention to detail and ability to multi-task and prioritize
Professional, service-oriented demeanor
Strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
Strong skills with web platforms, social media, newsletter design - for example, MailChimp
Excellent written and oral communication skills
