Requirements

The Director, Student Revenue & Receivables is responsible all student revenue recognition and receivables management. As this position is highly technical, the Director works with various Directors in UIS to design and test student revenue and receivables processes to ensure reliability, efficiency, and accuracy. The Director is the primary support for satellite student receivables offices at the Law Center and GU-Qatar that do not report to central Revenue and Receivables but nonetheless depend on the central office for much of their ability to function. Finally, the Director is the primary point of contact for the SCS Continuing Education Program team, the SCS’s Finance team, and the SCS’s Systems team as it relates to managing revenue and receivables for non-credit programs and students. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Directing and coordinating student revenue and receivables management, including:
    • Active student revenue and receivables functions performed by the Manager of Active Student Receivables, such as tuition and fee assessment and production of billing statements.
    • Inactive student receivables functions performed by the Manager of Inactive Student Receivables, such as collections invoicing, referrals to third party collection partners, and inactive student refunds.
    • Sponsored student receivables functions performed by the Manager of Sponsored Student Receivables, such as solicitation and review of sponsorship agreements, invoice template development and invoicing, and general ledger reconciliation.
    • Non-credit student receivables functions performed by the Manager of Non-Credit Student Receivables, including invoicing, collection, reconciliation, and management of the non-credit student record system with respect to revenue and receivables and its integration with GMS.
  • Student and loan receivables and accounting, including developing controls, performing bank reconciliations, systems reconciliations, and other general ledger reconciliations, as well as supervising error correction. Further, the position will:
    • Coordinate various external audits (including, but not limited to, the financial statements audit, the uniform guidance audit, and the systems and IT general controls audit) with respect to student revenue and receivables as well as federal student loan processes and funds and loan receivable processes and financials.
    • Develop of university-wide policies and procedures regarding student and loan receivables management, and coordinate the promulgation of said policies through publication in student bulletins and handbooks.
  • Acting as the primary steward of student ERP system functionality with respect to student revenue and receivables; designing and testing processes to ensure reliability, efficiency, and accuracy.
  • Developing and monitoring key performance indicators, and writing operational and trend reports to assure student and loan receivables are managed efficiently and effectively.
Work Interactions

The Director Both Supports And Receives Support From The Deputy Director For Customer Account Services And The Senior Director For Revenue, Receivables, And Payables Systems. The Director Also Works With High-level Administrators Across The University To Effectively Manage Both The Financial And Student Services Aspects Of Student Revenue And Receivables, Including School And Campus CFOs To Ensure That Tuition Revenue Is Properly Recognized And Recorded, As Well As With The Directors Of Financial Accounting And Campus Accounting As Well As The Assistant Controller To Coordinate The External Financial Audit. The Director Reports To The Supervisor Of Revenue, Receivables, And Payables, And Supervises The Following Positions

  • Manager of Active Student Receivables
  • Manager of Inactive Student Receivables
  • Manager of Sponsored Student Receivables
  • Manager of Non-Credit Student Receivables

Additionally, the Director works with Senior Associate Deans, Senior Associate and Deputy Registrars, and Associate Deans of Financial Aid to coordinate student receivables management efforts within the constellation of administrative efforts to optimize student retention and enable student academic success.

Requirements And Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field
  • 10 years’ experience in progressively more responsible roles in a finance, accounting, or business operation
  • 7 years’ management experience (or equivalent)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Advanced degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field
  • Experience in a higher education environment
  • Experience with the Banner student record system
  • Experience with Workday’s financials system
  • Experience with Salesforce, TouchNet, and Cognos Reporting systems

Pay Range

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$103,723.00 - $202,778.93

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
