Position Title : Interim Transitional Executive Director
Contract Duration : 6 months (Part-time)
Contract Rate : $65 / hour at 80 hours per month (Total : $31,200 over 6 months)
Background
The Georgia Association for the Education of Young Children (GAEYC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the early childhood education profession through advocacy, leadership, and professional development. Due to the unexpected resignation of our Board President, GAEYC seeks an experienced Interim Transitional Executive Director (Interim ED) to guide the organization through this period of transition.
This role is crucial for maintaining the organization's operations, supporting strategic planning efforts, enhancing board governance, and ensuring a seamless transition to the next permanent Affiliate Manager.
Scope of Work
The Interim ED will work closely with the Board Chair, Vice Presidents, and the Board of Directors to stabilize and strengthen GAEYC's operations and set the stage for future success. Key responsibilities include.
- Organizational Operations
- Manage daily operations to ensure the organization runs efficiently.
- Provide oversight for resource development, grants management, and program administration.
- Serve as the public face of GAEYC, maintaining relationships with national and regional associations.
- Strategic Planning
- Collaborate with the Board to refine and execute GAEYC’s strategic plan.
- Develop systems and processes to support organizational priorities and long-term goals.
- Board Governance
- Strengthen board governance practices by providing training and resources.
- Support the onboarding and engagement of board members.
- Assist in planning and facilitating board meetings and retreats.
- Affiliate Manager Search and Transition
- Lead the search and recruitment process for GAEYC’s next Affiliate Manager.
- Develop an onboarding and transition plan for the new Affiliate Manager.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to the incoming Affiliate Manager to ensure a smooth transition.
- Evaluation and Reporting
- Maintain regular communication with the Board Chair and Vice Presidents.
- Submit monthly progress reports to the Board.
- Provide an end-of-contract report summarizing accomplishments and recommendations for continued success.
