Youth Minister

First Baptist Church of Dawson, GA is seeking a full time Youth Minister. We are seeking someone who will come and love our youth and community and become invested in both. We are a small church in a small and rural town in Southwest Georgia. However, our size does not dampen our love for Jesus Christ or desire to make Him known.

Job Description

POSITION TITLE: Youth Minister

POSITION TYPE: Ministerial

POSITION CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time

General Responsibilities

• Attend designated staff meetings.
• Attend deacon’s meetings.
• Assist church leadership, other church ministries, operations in the church office, and in other assigned duties as the Pastor sees fit.
• Attend/support Georgia Baptist, Summerhill Baptist Association, and community ministerial meetings/activities as assigned and time permits.
• Serve as a member of the Church Council, coordinate the youth ministry with the organization calendar and emphases of the church.
  
  

Youth Responsibilities

• Work with ministerial staff and the appropriate committees/ministry teams in planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating the youth ministries of the church.
• Ensure that each volunteer/worker/teacher has complied with the Child Protection Policy and training of FBC Dawson.
• Teach youth Sunday school class, attend Sunday morning worship, lead Sunday evening youth activities, and lead Wednesday afternoon/evening youth bible study activities.
• Be available for normal communication with members of the youth group during the work week (Sunday-Thursday) and for emergencies (if possible) via in person, phone, text, social media and/or other means of communication.
• Be available to attend youth events/activities that may involve late hours, long travel, and/or overnight stays aways from home, and support our youth in their activities and events outside the church.
• Support chapel services for Terrell Academy and facilitate outreach efforts at Southwest Georgia Stem Charter school.
• Prepare an annual youth budget for approval and administer the approved budget.
  
  

Special Requirements For Youth Minister

INITIATIVE AND JUDGMENT REQIRED: The position requires that ministry be done without direct supervision, and decisions must be made based on own experience and judgment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must possess the physical ability to meet the requirements of the job.

Special Requirements

• Must have a valid Georgia driver’s license.
• Must be willing to submit to, and must pass, pre-employment and random drug testing at the will and expense of FBC Dawson.
• Must complete Child Protection Policy and Training of FBC Dawson.
  
  

SUPERVISON RECEIVED: Works closely with the Pastor, and is directly responsible to the Church for all work performed.

EMPLOYEES SUPERVISED: Supervises all youth personnel hired by the Church.

EDUCATION: Undergraduate degree, plus a minimum of two years seminary training or equivalent education experience preferred but not required.

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE: Experience in the field of youth ministry preferred but not required.

ORDIANATION AND CHURCH MEMBERSHIP: Membership in the First Baptist Church of Dawson is required. Ordination preferred but not required.
