Remedy Pet Care (Remedy) is a nonprofit veterinary startup with two clinics (Atlanta, GA and Gainesville, FL) committed to providing affordable, quality medical care to pets in underserved communities. We focus on improving the health and well-being of pets and engaging in community outreach. Our team is dedicated to making a lasting impact on animal welfare while maintaining each clinic’s financial stability and long-term growth so that we can expand our mission.
The Executive Director will serve as the chief executive of Remedy responsible for the overall management, operational excellence, financial performance, and strategic direction of the organization. During the next two years, the Executive Director will have a particular focus on achieving and maintaining break-even financial performance at each clinic based solely on service revenue, building an effective veterinary volunteer program, and implementing a sustainable charitable care program funded by donations.
The ideal candidate will have experience in running multiple veterinary clinics, ideally across different states; possess a proven track record of scaling veterinary practices; enjoy getting hands-on in a startup environment; and be a strong advocate for animal welfare. Strategic Leadership
- Lead the development and implementation of Remedy’s strategic goals and objectives, ensuring alignment with the mission and vision of the organization.
- Work with the Board of Directors to define and refine the clinic’s long-term strategic direction, focusing on growth, sustainability, and community impact.
- Provide visionary leadership for the evolution of clinic services, as well as the integration of clinic operations and culture across geographies.
- Guide the organization through the complexities of understanding local regulations, community needs, and market conditions.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of all clinics ensuring efficient delivery of quality veterinary care, a positive patient experience, and optimal use of resources.
- Develop systems and processes to ensure consistency, quality, and efficiency across multiple clinic locations, where applicable.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and licensing requirements for veterinary practices in different states and communities.
- Monitor clinic performance, including financial metrics, patient care standards, and operational efficiency; implement changes as needed to improve outcomes.
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of veterinary professionals, administrative staff, and volunteers to ensure high levels of employee satisfaction and performance.
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes collaboration, respect, and professional growth.
- Implement and maintain systems for performance evaluation, staff development, and retention.
- Develop and manage the annual budget for the clinic, ensuring financial sustainability while maintaining quality care standards.
- Oversee financial planning, ensuring that resources are allocated appropriately to meet organizational goals.
- Identify revenue-generating opportunities to support the mission including partnerships and innovative services for sales revenue, as well as grants and fundraising programs for charitable care.
- Ensure the financial health of the clinic by tracking key financial indicators and implementing corrective actions when necessary.
- Cultivate and expand relationships with potential donors, partners, and other stakeholders who can provide financial, in-kind, or other valuable support to Remedy.
- Represent Remedy at local, regional, and national forums. Advocate for animal welfare and build strong relationships with community leaders, donors, animal welfare organizations, and government agencies.
- Develop and manage a comprehensive communication strategy to promote Remedy’s mission so that it is well known and supported within the communities we serve.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between the Board of Directors and the Remedy’s staff, ensuring effective communication and collaboration on strategic initiatives.
- Provide regular updates to the Board on clinic operations, financial performance, and key initiatives.
- Assist with board member recruitment, orientation, and development.
- Ensure the clinic operates in full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations including those related to veterinary care and nonprofit management.
- Develop and implement risk management strategies to protect the organization’s assets and reputation, particularly as it expands into new markets.
