Job Summary
The Assistant Director Plans, Coordinates, and implements student programs for new and current students, including, but not limited to, premier visitation days, scholarship competitions, Orientations and other events sponsored by the Division of Enrollment Management. In addition, this position serves as a Co-Advisor to the Student Ambassador Team and the Advisor for the summer Orientation Leader Team. The Assistant Director supervises the GCSU Welcome Center and oversees all aspects of the regular and special campus tour program for prospective students and families.
Plans specific university student program in collaboration with a broad representation of campus constituencies to design programs to showcase the university as well as promote student academic success. Directs and organizes the Welcome Center and campus tours.
Responsibilities
Coordinating - 60
Plans specific university student programs in collaboration with a broad representation of campus constituencies to design programs to showcase the university as well as promote student academic success. Directs and organizes the Welcome Center and campus tours.
Directs the everyday operation of the Welcome Center, including updating digital content, monitoring the reservation system ,supervising staff, assisting with presenting information sessions for visitors, working with university departments on student specific needs, serving as liaison to Parking and Transportation, University Housing and others. Works closely with University Communications on content, evaluating effectiveness of visits and making recommendations for improvement.
Records Management - 10
Oversees the maintenance of database records and systems, departmental budgets and purchasing activities, and collection and transmission of fees and payments.
Knowledge of general accounting skills.
Budget - 10
Develops and implements goals and objectives within institutional guidelines which are supportive of divisional goals and objectives. Assists in the preparation, implementation, and management of the budgets serving areas of responsibility. Determines budgetary needs and maintains fiscal accountability for daily revenues. Generates through assigned programs sufficient revenue to pay all direct expenses of the programs to cover a portion of the general departmental overhead.
Supervision - 5
Recruits, hires, trains, supervises, schedules, and evaluates program staff, instructors, student workers, and facilitators. Supervises the Welcome Center staff as well as assist with supervision of tour guides.
Financial Management - 10
Enters and records registrations and accepts deposits and payments. Oversees the maintenance of database records and systems, departmental budgets and purchasing activities, and collection and transmission of fees and payments.

Assumes other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management.

ABILITIES
Proficient in MS Office applications that include Word and Excel; Basic bookkeeping skills; ability to work with large amounts of cash, checks, and credit cards; ability to effectively communicate in person, by phone, and by email.
Ability to lead and train student assistants.
Ability to conceive, develop, implement and supervise innovative programs
Ability to effectively communicate with colleagues, administrators, and community members (orally, written, and through presentations).
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of university policies and procedures. Excellent attention to detail and follow-through. Ability to speak and present before groups and use technology to enhance tours and campus events. Event planning knowledge.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and general understanding of PC operations.
