Job Summary
The Web Content Specialist provides daily support to develop and maintain online content for Georgia College & State University's website. The goal of this position is to support the University Communications team to improve the overall user experience online, prioritize ADA (accessibility) guidelines and collaborate with departments across campus to manage the content on their pages.
This position is also responsible for adhering to the university's style guide in managing content on the university's news site, marketing pages, outdoor digital screen and virtual tour solutions.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates with division leadership, as well as stakeholders across campus, to place content in strategic locations on the public website, as well as troubleshoot issues internally.
- Works with colleagues within and outside of the University Communications team to deploy content on digital platforms.
- Manages multiple campus-wide digital content systems.
- Assist other web editors across campus by serving as a digital communications expert for the university's online mediums.
- Provide support for the university's websites by assisting content managers and developing assets as needed.
Administrative - 10
- Provide crisis management support for online and digitally connected applications.
- Evaluate and manage various digital communications projects.
- Monitor trends in internet technology and higher education and suggest projects/improvements to enhance the overall user experience, optimize navigation and fine tune online content strategies.
- Provide technical support for websites, campus-wide signage, e-newsletters, and online-based campus tours.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in marketing, communications, management, computer science or another related field
Other Required Qualifications
Familiarity with content management systems.
Required Experience
At least 5 years of experience progressively managing web content, supporting website migrations, and developing and populating content templates in a web-centric environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Previous higher education experience preferred.
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master's degree preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Preferred Experience
Experience developing e-newsletters and producing micro-sites.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Understanding and ability to capture and interpret KPIs, SEO metrics and other user experience data sets to optimize digital content strategies and engagement with online spaces.
KNOWLEDGE
- A working knowledge of web content management Google analytics and Google tag manager.
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Adobe Creative Cloud (experience with Drupal preferred)
SKILLS
- Understanding of various content management systems.
