DCH is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Compliance Nurse 2, Home Health and Hospice Unit with the Healthcare Facility Regulation Division. This position will document and conduct on-site surveys and requires regional travel. Regional travel may require up to 90% overnight travel. The Compliance Nurse 2, under general to limited supervision, conducts on-site surveys of non-long term care facilities regulated by the state to determine compliance with applicable state and/or federal rules and regulations. This position may be asked to survey other facility types as needed. Surveys are conducted either independently or as a part of a multi-disciplinary team using both an automated and a written survey process to review the quality of nursing care delivered inf ederal and state non-long term care facilities (Home Health and Hospice).

Note: This position requires at least one year of recent clinical experience working directly in the field of Home Health Aide and/or Hospice.
  • Leads, plans, organizes, and directs all nursing activities in assigned facility.
  • Responsible for the quality of nursing care delivered in hospitals, public health facilities, and community based programs.
  • Directs subordinate supervisors and staff. Will manage large numbers of agency staff or have large scope of responsibility within agency.
  • Coordinates response to disaster and emergencies.
  • Develops and manages the budget and makes cost effective decisions.
  • Develops policies, sets standards and plans objectives for the nursing program in accordance with established policies.
  • Develops staffing patterns.
  • Evaluates nursing standards and nurse protocols for all nursing programs.
  • Initiates and participates in the development of community wide policy to improve the health status of the stakeholder.
  • Interprets policies and communicates changes in regulations and procedures.
  • Makes long-range plans and regularly reviews activities, problems and functions of services being delivered.
  • Organizes and plans a systematic and continuous quality/performance improvement program for the practice of nursing.
  • Oversees the collection of data for statistical records.
  • Plans and directs the work of nursing or other professional staff and assures an adequate level of nursing care.
  • Provides staff development including orientation, in-service training, workshops and continuing education for all levels of nursing staff.
  • Reviews state, federal, and other regulatory standards information in order to direct the quality improvement activities and achieve compliance.
Master's degree in nursing, nursing administration, public health or directly related field from an accredited college or university AND Two years in an administrative or supervisory capacity AND current Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse OR Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND Five years of experience as a Registered Nurse, Two years of which in an administrative or supervisory capacity AND current Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse OR Eight years of experience as a Registered Nurse, Two years of which in an environment related to the area of assignment, Four years of which as a supervisor AND current Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse.

Note: Some positions may require a certification or licensure. Possession of a valid Georgia driver's license, which would enable the applicant to drive in Georgia, and use of a car at work, are required for employees in this job. Position requires 90% state wide overnight travel. Occasional weekend and after-hours work may also be required to meet the needs of the business unit.

Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates, who in addition to meeting the qualifications listed above, possess the following: 
  • Experience with Home Health Agency and/or Hospice. The applicant does not have to be a nurse. 
  • Experience on the day-to-day operations of a Home Health Agency and/or Hospice.
  • Experience with the Rules and Regulations of Home Health Agency and/or Hospice.
  • Computer skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high quality documentation with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and writing skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
