Position Overview:
The State Health Benefit Division is seeking an Employer Services Engagement Specialist to join the Employer Services Team. This role involves working closely with SHBP employing entities, the eligibility vendor, and internal DCH staff to provide high-quality service, resolve complex issues, and ensure compliance with policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
General Responsibilities:
- Provide clear and accurate explanations of policies, benefits, and procedures to employing entities and the eligibility vendor.
- Perform administrative tasks such as generating reports, filing, and distributing correspondence or information.
- Research and review both routine and non-routine processing issues, escalating complex or sensitive matters to the supervisor as needed.
- Generate professional, well-written responses to inquiries from employing entities and the eligibility vendor.
- Some in-state travel required.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Examine files to address routine inquiries and provide employers and the eligibility vendor with accurate information.
- Conduct research to respond to employer requests and resolve issues, such as billing discrepancies or coverage changes due to qualifying events.
- Mediate and respond to complaints, inquiries, and requests for assistance from employing entities and the eligibility vendor.
- Assist in implementing operational procedures and coordinating training programs as needed.
- Manage high-priority tasks such as maintaining and monitoring the Employer Services email inbox.
- Send email communications to employers to provide updates or convey critical information.
- Serve as the lead for the Employer Services travel team during key events such as New Teacher Orientation (NTO) and Open Enrollment (OE).
- Manage the SHBP Employer (X)change system inbox during high-volume periods.
- Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to research, analyze, and resolve complex issues.
- Experience in customer service, particularly in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Familiarity with SHBP policies, procedures, and systems is a plus.
