The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS), Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) is seeking candidates for the position of Child Welfare Services Technician 1 for the Caregiver Recruitment and Retention Unit (CRRU). This position will serve DFCS Region 8 can be housed in any of the counties in this region depending on space availability and selected candidate's county of residence. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Pay Grade: DThis position has a designated special entry salary that is non-negotiable. Under direct supervision, provides a broad range of paraprofessional social services to patients/clients/consumers and their families. Conducts patient/client/consumer intakes, participates in treatment team planning, and performs crisis intervention.Roles and Responsibilities: Provide support to foster, adoptive, or relative caregivers.Attend and assist with recruitment events to include logistics.Establish, maintain, and leverage community partnerships needed to support caregivers.Keep prospective caregivers engaged during the onboarding process to aid in retention. Contact prospective foster caregivers upon completion of IMPACT to assist in gaining access to services needed to complete the onboarding process. Make home visits to newly approved caregivers within 48 hours of their first placement.Make phone contact within 72 hours of a new placement in an existing foster home.Provide direct assist to the caregiver in obtaining services for children entering DFCS care.Serve as a liaison between caregivers and case managers, providers, and other external partners.Link caregivers to community resources.Provide increased contacts to foster parents upon initial placement of a child.Assist foster caregivers with documentation/applications for services.Maintain clear, accurate, and concise documentation of all services and supports provided to caregivers and enter all narratives into the Georgia SHINES data system. Provide support to the foster caregiver during moments of crises to stabilize placements.Remain knowledgeable about current/emerging demographic and cultural changes to assist customers effectively. Use logs, time sheets and case recording to document timely and accurately using computer programs per policy while protecting assigned password/ID.Update and maintain policy and procedure manuals with knowledge gained at staff meetings and required trainings.Maintains confidentiality of all records and correspondence.Engages in required statewide and regional travel. Core Competences: Strong knowledge and experience of Division of Family and Children Services programs and process.DFCS social services system knowledge (SHINES).Highly organized and self-motivated.Ability to provide transportation and evidence of a valid driver’s license for required travel throughout the state.
