The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS), Office of Financial Services (OFS) is seeking candidates for the position of Senior Manager, Account Financial Services. This position is considered hybrid for the time being and will need to report to 47 Trinity Avenue on an as needed basis which is located in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia.

Pay Grade: ODirects the accounting and financial operations of an agency. Recommends and implements accounting policies and procedures in accordance with government regulations. Manages subordinate supervisors and staff.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the General Ledger of a $2.0 billion state agency, the Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS).
- A critical member of the Office of Financial Services (OFS) management team.
- Recommends and implements accounting policies and procedures for DHS.
- Ensures DHS accounting practices comply with federal and state government regulations and audit standards.
- Directs all General Ledger related functions, such as account reconciliations, subledger balancing, and close procedures.
- Acts as the DHS point of contact for the State Accounting Office (SAO).
- Delivers accurate and timely state of Georgia financial reporting.
- Builds a high performing and motivated General Ledger team.
- Conducts General Ledger and Financial Reporting training for the General Ledger team, OFS, and DHS divisions and programs.
- Efficient hands-on data mining skill.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively plan work and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Effective written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.

- Bachelor's degree in accounting and five (5) years of professional accounting job-related experience, which includes three (3) years in a managerial or supervisory role;
- One (1) year of experience at the lower level Manager 2, Accounting (FIM011) or equivalent position.
Preference will be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, demonstrate some or all the following education/skills/experience:
- Proven comprehensive accounting knowledge.
- Advance proficiency and direct experience with Microsoft Excel.
- 8 years of hands-on systems experience using PeopleSoft or other financial accounting systems for data retrieval, queries, and system output in the General Ledger module.
- A demonstrated track record of analyzing and reconciling General Ledger accounts, subledgers and complex transactions.
- Successful preparation of financial reports.
- Leadership of high performing accounting teams.
- Ability to train team members on accounting principles, best practice accounting procedures, and organizational skills.
