The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS), Division of Aging Services (DAS) is seeking candidates for the position of Social Services Program Consultant Supervisor (Dementia Team Lead). This position will be assigned to the closest office location of the selected candidate with travel expected throughout the state.

Pay Grade: LUnder the broad supervision of the Access to Services Section Manager, oversee the Dementia Care Specialist Program, supervising staff responsible for the Georgia Memory Net (GMN), the Georgia Alzheimer’s and Related Dementia (GARD) State Plan, and the Alzheimer’s Disease Program Initiative (ADPI) Grant, Advancing Cognition and Brain Health Supports (A-CABS). The Dementia Team Lead will drive the Division’s dementia work around the state, overseeing goals and deliverables and measuring impact.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Serves as Team Lead for DAS Dementia Team and ensures continuity and connection between each of the programs on the team (DCS, GMN, GARD, and A-CABS).
- Supervises, guides, and/or instructs the work assignments of subordinate staff.
- Develops policies and procedures related to all dementia programs.
- Assures programs are monitored; provides feedback to contractors; implements quality assurance and quality improvement strategies.
- Works with the Program Integrity Section of DAS to ensure accurate and timely reporting of program impact to grantors and federal and state entities.
- Manages the Dementia Care Specialist Program including development of program goals, policy, training, outcome measures, and driving future planning and program development.
- Conducts research involving data collection and analysis, develops and implements policy, and administers social services programs.
- Provides technical assistance, training, and oversight to Area Agencies on Aging regarding Dementia Care Specialists.
- Serves as subject matter expert for Dementia Care Specialist Program in the DAS Data System (DDS).
- Applies for and manages grants related to Alzheimer’s and dementia care.
- Builds partnerships with other departments/organizations including the twelve Area Agencies on Aging, Department of Public Health, academic institutions, and other related agencies to strengthen the aging network’s ability to support families impacted by dementia.
- Works closely with the Livable Communities Section of DAS to align processes and program manuals & ensure continuity across programs for those living with dementia and their care partners.
- Serves as liaison to the dementia team in standing meetings, including Leadership, Division, and AAA meetings (as assigned).
- Serves as an active team member for other program initiatives throughout the Division of Aging Services ensuring we are always considering persons with dementia (PWD) and their care partners.

- Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND five (5) years of professional job-related experience, which includes two (2) years in a lead worker, team leader, or supervisory role;
- One (1) year of experience at the lower level Social Services Program Consultant 3 (SSP042) or position equivalent.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications: Preferred Skills/Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, demonstrate some or all the following education/skills/experience:
- Masters Degree (Social Work, Gerontology, Human Services, Public Administration or related field preferred) with a minimum of two years experience in dementia-related programming or service delivery.
- Minimum one year experience supervising two or more subordinate staff.
- Experience in the administration of statewide aging services network either at the state, area agency on aging, or service provider level, including engaging community partners.
- Demonstrated successful policy writing experience; experience providing consultation and technical assistance on policy interpretation and clarification.
- Demonstrated leadership in current work duties/performance and skills.
- Experience with data analysis and reporting.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
