What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Shipping Clerk position at Georgia Expo Manufacturing?
Position Summary: As a Shipping Clerk at Georgia Expo, you will work with freight and/or ground shipping using pulling and packing lists to perform order fulfillment operations, prepare and package product for shipment to customers, and properly ship products using designated LTL, FTL, ground, and expedited shipping methods.
Areas of Responsibility:
Safety
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment in Shipping Department.
- Understand and follow safety rules including safe lifting practices and safe machine operation.
- Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE’s) at all times.
Order Fulfillment
· Check pick sheets to verify what orders need to be pulled and identify the location and availability of product. If incorrect location, check for location by visually inspecting stock.
· Check orders in staging area ensuring order has been filled properly including checking correct product, quality, accurate label, and quantity.
· Pull orders from stock via forklift.
· Pack orders on pallet according to size and weight per Company standards.
· Wrap pallet to prepare for shipment based on Company standards.
Shipping
- Prepare detailed packing list and create Bill of Lading (BOL) for freight orders using Process Shipper.
- Prepare picking sheet using Sage 100 and process picking sheet using FedEx Ship Manager, Process Shipper, and/or UPS WorldShip software.
- Manually log via clipboard order shipments and LTL/Freight shipping.
- Create Bill of Lading (BOL) using Process Shipper when required for international shipments.
- Prepare NAFTA documentation when required by Accounting Department for international shipments.
- Load appropriate delivery trucks with forklift or by hand using proper safety procedures.
Inventory/Maintenance
- Stock picking shelves when low only and when time permits.
- Keep Shipping Department area clean and organized.
- Complete forklift inspection forms at the beginning of every shift and prior to using.
- Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to Supervisor.
- Any other duties as assigned by the Shipping Supervisor or Plant Manager.
Skill Requirements:
· Ability to work in a fast paced environment and handle multiple projects at one time.
· Ability to understand the workflow of sales order information through production and back to customer.
· Ability to organize and prioritize weekly and daily work orders.
· Good communication skills.
· Must be self-motivated and energetic.
· Must be able to work independently and in a team environment.
· Basic understanding of Lean manufacturing a plus.
· Basic understanding of inventory management a plus.
Experience and Education Requirements:
· High school diploma or higher preferred, but not required.
· 1-3 years of experience in a shipping department within a manufacturing or production environment.
· Previous shipping experience required, LTL, or Freight preferred.
· Previous experience with shipping software.
· Forklift experience is required.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to walk and/or stand for at least 8 hours.
· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly, 100 lbs. occasionally.
