- Expert level support of firewall configuration and maintenance, experience with Cisco equipment preferred
- Expert level skills of configuration, installation, troubleshooting, and supporting Cisco Networking equipment (Routers, Nexus and access switches), Wireless Controllers and Access Points, Computers, Servers and peripherals
- Expert level knowledge with 802.1q VLANs and working within industry best practices
- Working knowledge of Security policies and principles with implementation experience
- Experience building and maintaining fiber optic networks
- Experience maintaining an enterprise-level infrastructure, including fiber optics
- Working experience implementing network traffic analysis, remote access methods and systems, state full inspection firewalls, encryption, authentication and authorization technology.
- Hands on technical experience working with VPN technologies (IPSEC, SSL VPN, WebVPN, AnyConnect, DMVPN, etc.)
- Position has responsibility for a component of IT security for their functional area
- Respond to network administration, operations, and maintenance problems while off duty, on an on-call basis
- Understanding of 802.11G/N in both the 2.4 and 5 GHz frequencies
- Ability to engineer, build, and test networks for optimum reliability
- General understanding of VoIP equipment and operation, POE technologies
- Able to work with a VoIP provider to deploy and support
- Knowledgeable in application transport and network infrastructure protocols (SSL/TLS, DNS, DHCP, WINS, NTP, FTP, HTTP, SMTP, CIFS, LDAP, and Microsoft AD), and possess an understanding of how to support these applications / protocols when accessed through VPN and firewall appliances
- Configuring network services using open source technologies on Linux servers
- Comfortable documenting and explaining network topologies
- Understand and diagram existing network
- Diagram, plan and explain future upgrades
- VMware Enterprise administration understanding
- Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technologies and products, independently using documentation and online resources
- Strong oral, written, communications, and presentation skills
- Bachelor’s degree is required: preferably in Information Technology or computer science
- Eight plus years’ work experience in information technology field: preferably in network field; Master’s degree may substitute for some work experience
- Outstanding Knowledge of Core Networking functions (Routing, Switching, OSI Model)
- Certifications: Cisco CCNA, CCNA Security and/or CCNP (preferred)
- Must have and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license and maintain a driving record that complies with the Underwriting guides for the Mutual Insurance Company
- Extensive knowledge of the Operating System used on desktops and laptops is required
- Advanced skill in the Microsoft Office Suite of applications in required, including Visio
- Willingness to mentor more junior staff members and support personnel
- Experience in a fast paced support environment in networks as a member of a 24x7x365 network and/or security operations team
- Must be able to concentrate for long periods of time
- Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds on occasional basis
- Working in confined spaces such as attics and crawl spaces as needed
