Position Title: Policy Aide Fellow
Location: St. Marys, Georgia, or Atlanta, Georgia
Position Type: Fellowship (20-30 hours per week)
Compensation: $15 - $18 per hour
Duration: Immediate start through April 5, 2025, with eligibility for renewal in six-month increments
About Representative Steven Sainz: Representative Steven Sainz serves Georgia's 180th District, encompassing Camden County and parts of Glynn County. He is a dedicated advocate for public safety and economic development, notably authoring "Mariam's Law," which enhances penalties for dangerous sexual predators.
Position Overview: Representative Sainz is seeking a committed Policy Aide Fellow to support legislative initiatives, focusing on constituent services and policy development. This fellowship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in state governance and public policy.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in researching and drafting policy proposals, particularly in public safety and economic development.
Engage with constituents to address concerns, provide information, and facilitate communication with the Representative's office.
Monitor legislative developments and provide summaries to the Representative and senior staff.
Support the planning and execution of community outreach events and initiatives.
Perform administrative tasks as needed to ensure the efficient operation of the office.
Qualifications:
Current student or recent graduate with a strong interest in public policy, political science, or a related field.
Residency in or ties to Glynn or Camden County is preferred.
Additional consideration for individuals attending or who have graduated from Valdosta State University, College of Coastal Georgia, and/or Georgia Tech.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong research and analytical abilities.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated commitment to public service and community engagement.
