Job Summary.
Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Mental/Behavioral Health Counselor will assist GHRC’s patients to manage and overcome short and long term mental and behavioral issues including substance use through evaluation of mental, emotional, and behavioral health conducting interviews and documenting cases, and developing appropriate interventions and recovery plans.
Responsibilities Include, but not limited to:
- Recruits and retains patients with mental and behavioral health issues.
- Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions.
- Facilitate in person and virtual counseling sessions.
- Monitor progress throughout the treatment plan.
- Collaborate on intervention plans with other GHRC’s counseling and clinical specialists.
- Identify and prevent behaviors that impede recovery.
- Assist with linkage to essential, supportive, and medical services at GHRC and partner agencies.
- Maintain a caseload of clients enrolled in various interventions.
- Chart patient retention navigation progress and reporting through data entry; maintain client files according to program protocols.
- Maintain knowledge about the latest intervention and treatment.
- Enters data into the appropriate database (EHR, SPARS, Google Drive, WITS)
- Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Maintains transparent communication. Effectively and accurately communicate GHRC's information through department meetings, one-on-one meetings, and appropriate email, IM (Instant Messaging), and regular interpersonal communication.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the Program Manager.
Required Education and Experience:
- Licensed Counselor/ Therapist, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, or Licensed Master of Social Work.
- Three or more years of demonstrated experience in mental and/or behavior health counseling.
- Data entry and word processing skills
- Dependable, Self-motivated, and self-directed
- Accurate and precise attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent time management skills; able to prioritize.
- Assists team members when needed to accomplish team goals
- Ability to multi-task
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) with strong knowledge of Google Drive.
- Proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality and make sound decisions in crisis situations.
- Ability to communicate effectively and clearly, both verbally and written, including strategic marketing materials and social media.
- Professional communication and presentation skills; ability to interact professionally with policymakers and health care providers at the local, regional, and national level.
- Strong ability to delegate tasks and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated experience working with diverse and underserved communities to address health disparities.
- Displays strong customer service skills with the ability to interact with patients in a professional, calm, patient, and friendly manner.
- Possess strong time-management skills with the ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
- Highly motivated with a strong work ethic and the ability to work both independently and in a group environment.
- Ability to work in a high-stressed environment and work in highly vulnerable communities.
- Displays respect for peers, supervisors, and clients.

Salary : $50,000 - $55,000
