What are the responsibilities and job description for the Specialist - Network Support I position at Georgia Highlands College?
This position performs specialized duties in the area of Information Security & Network Services and supports many servers and systems for Information Technology Services. Additionally, this position helps support the institution¿s Information Security Program under the direction of the Chief Information Officer.
Responsibilities
- Is responsible to understand, support, and carry out the college¿s mission, vision, and values and comply with mandates and regulations of government and accrediting bodies.
- Provides support for the installation, use, and maintenance of server operating systems, services, applications, hardware, and networking equipment
- Responds to requests from assistance from other ITS personnel and from end-users
- Assists students and employees with the resolution of account issues
- Assists with the development and maintenance of the college¿s telecommunications systems
- Assists with the development and maintenance of wired and wireless networks
- Assists with the maintenance of college servers (Windows and Linux)
- Assists with the maintenance of Active Employee Directory
- Assists with the maintenance of Office 365
- Assists with the maintenance of college¿s physical security systems
- Coordinates with other ITS personnel in order to diagnose and resolve system problems
- Provides updates, status, and completion information to manager; logs details and updates request status
- Performs related duties.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to information technology; or associate¿s degree and four (4) years of related experience.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver¿s license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
Proposed Salary
The salary for this position is $52,995.28
This is a fully benefitted Full Time position.
This Position will have some driving for the College and is a Position of Trust
The Chief Information Officer supervises this position. The Director of Information Security & Network Services assigns work in terms of very general instructions. Completed work is spot-checked for compliance with procedures and the nature and propriety of the final results.
