What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wellness Director position at Georgia Living Senior Care?
Maple Court is seeking an energetic, positive professional to ensure quality of care for our residents, lead the team of caregivers and ensure regulatory compliance. Must be okay with working some weekends, evenings, or overnights occasionally.
Must be self-motivated, be able to manage people and be a team player.
The primary purpose of this position is to ensure residents are provided with daily support services in accordance with our established resident care procedures. The Wellness Director will also observe the status of residents and provide guidance/direction when a status has changed, complete assessments and care planning, provide supervision and training to Caregivers to ensure a high level of care provision to all residents, oversee medication management, create workable schedules and any other assignments as may be directed by the Executive Director.
Delegation of Authority
The Wellness Director is second in command at the community. The individual must be a professional as they are delegated administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out assigned duties. The Wellness Director reports to the Executive Director.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Administrative Functions
- Management of accidents and incidents
- Manage Assessments, Care Plans and Resident Well-being
- Review of Medication Assistance Records for all residents to ensure medication is being handled appropriately and documented accurately.
- Schedule Quarterly Pharmacy Audits.
- Routinely review the Medication program to ensure the process is being managed appropriately. To include: new and change orders, receiving and storage of medication, communications with our pharmacy and other healthcare providers, maintaining accurate counts for controlled medications.
- Ensure that all physician orders for residents are being carried out.
- Plan, manage, and coordinate with other staff the monthly wellness check for residents.
- Serve as a liaison between the community, physician, and resident, as needed, to ensure resident condition is monitored appropriately.
- Communicate with third party providers and coordinate their visit(s) to residents.
- Create, or delegate the creation of, schedules for Care Staff that are appropriate and timely in their posting
- Manage Care Staff
- Oversee Memory Care Coordinator, who manages the 18-bed secure Memory Care community.
- Ensure that Care Staff receive appropriate Orientation and Training before beginning their work with residents, and that they receive the ongoing required training.
- Attend all scheduled meetings that require the Wellness Director’s attendance.
- Responsible for Resident Care Charts and their upkeep.
- Ensure that the Wellness department is in compliance with DCH regulations.
- Promote Station Exchange Senior Care and the Georgia Living Senior Care company in a positive way.
Admission, Transfer, and Discharge Functions
- Participate in welcoming new residents.
- Assist new residents and their families, if needed, during move-in and settling in at their new home.
- Responsible for completion of resident paperwork that pertains to care, proxy caregiving, health, pharmacy, etc.
Personnel Functions
- Follow work assignments, and/or work schedules in completing and performing your assigned tasks.
- Perform assigned tasks in accordance with our established policies and procedures, as instructed by your supervisor.
- Comply with all attendance requirements.
- Cooperate with activities, culinary and housekeeping staff to assure that services are adequately maintained to meet the needs of the residents. Teamwork is a must!
- Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the workplace.
- Meet with your supervisor on a regular basis to assist in identifying and correcting problem areas, and/or the improvement of services.
- Carry out all company Policies and Procedures
Staff Development
- Develop and present scheduled training and educational classes.
- Attend and participate in scheduled training and educational classes.
- Attend and participate in scheduled orientation programs and activities.
Safety & Sanitation – for all staff
- Follow appropriate procedure for any residents leaving/missing from the residence.
- Follow established smoking regulations. Report all violations.
- Report all hazardous conditions and equipment to the Executive Director immediately.
- Follow established safety precautions in performance of all duties.
- Report all safety violations.
- Follow Infection Control policies and procedures
- Report any communicable or infectious disease that you contract to the Executive Director immediately.
Equipment & Supply Functions
- Operate all equipment in a safe manner.
- Report defective equipment to the Executive Director.
- Inform the Executive Director of your equipment and supply needs.
Resident Rights
- Maintain the confidentiality of all resident information.
- Ensure that you treat all residents fairly and with kindness, dignity, and respect.
- Report all grievances and complaints made by residents in the Grievance Log.
Working Conditions
- Works throughout the residence.
- Sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during working hours.
- Is subject to frequent interruptions, must be flexible.
- Is involved with residents, personnel, families, visitors, etc. under all conditions and circumstances.
- Communicates with other personnel.
- Works beyond normal working hours, on weekends and holidays, and in other positions, when necessary.
- Attends and participates in continuing education programs.
- Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, and conditions.
Specific Requirements
* Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such actions.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the general public.
- Must possess CPR and First Aid certification and must be willing to obtain certification to teach CPR and First Aid (paid for by the company).
- Must possess the ability and willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel.
- Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents, and/or situations.
- Must be willing to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing service practices.
- Must be able to relate information concerning residents’ condition.
Physical and Sensory Requirements (With or Without the Aid of Mechanical Devices)
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the working day.
- Must be able to read, speak, and write the English language in an understandable manner.
- Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
- Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
- Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies.
- Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
- Must be able to relate to and work with the elderly, emotionally upset, and, at times, hostile people.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull and move a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents.
