GMHCN/Kaiser Permanente Project - Certified Peer Specialist (MH or AD)
The Georgia Mental Health Consumer Network (GMHCN), a recovery-oriented mental health peer support, advocacy, and education organization, is seeking Certified Peer Specialists (CPS) to work with members of Kaiser Permanente (KP) to offer the skills to support their recovery goals.
As an active member of the KP Behavioral Health Team, the Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) will work from the perspective of their lived experience to help build environments conducive to recovery. The CPS will perform a wide range of tasks to support members in living their own lives and directing their own recovery and wellness process.
Responsibilities
•Maintain an active caseload ranging between 20-30 KP members (exact size based on needs of members)
•Ensures proper documentation is completed in a timely manner
•Meet and provide weekly reports to supervisor
•Provide one-on-one peer support, using evidence-based practices and a strength-based approach
•Coach and/or teach basic individual living skills (personal hygiene, meal planning, budgeting, etc.) when needed
•Provide community-based resources and guide member through accessing them
•Facilitate/lead both in person and virtual peer support groups
•Create curriculum for use in groups and one-on-one settings
•Role-model positive recovery behavior
•Willingness to participate in training both as requested and as part of self-improvement

Required Qualifications:
•Georgia DBHDD Certified Peer Specialist - Addictive Disease or Mental Health (must be active and up to date on CEUs)
•High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) minimum
•Valid Georgia Driver’s License
•Reliable Transportation
•Ability to travel up to 80% of the time and independently meet with members in the clinic or community-based settings
•Exceptional computer skills including Excel and Word
•Strong organization, communication & interpersonal skills.
•Ability to meet deadlines and be detail oriented.
•Exceptional oral and written communication skills
•Successfully pass a criminal background check and drug screen
Preferred Qualifications
•Two (2) years of experience as a Certified Peer Specialist
•Proficiency in other languages including Spanish
•Whole Health Action Management (WHAM) Certification
•Successful Completion of Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) Seminar I and II
•CPR and First Aid Certified
•Trained in Intentional Peer Support
•Experience with Peer Support Groups
