JOB INFORMATION:
Job Title: Litigation & Claims Manager
Department: Risk Management & Sustainability
Terminal: Garden City Terminal; Savanah, GA
FLSA Status: Exempt

JOB OVERVIEW:
Under the supervision of the Director of Risk Management & Sustainability, the Litigation & Claims Manager actively manages the liability, property, and claims programs, and works with litigation with Worker's Compensation insurance claims and litigation for current and potential risks to the organization. Supports a safe work environment by participating in safety initiatives and reporting unsafe conditions and behaviors.

JOB DUTIES:
  • Development and maintenance of a comprehensive risk management system to reduce financial, security, and / or reputational impact to the company.
  • Facilitate the identification of risk practices throughout the organization by effectively working with internal and external stakeholders to design processes that eliminate or mitigate potential risks and communicate recommendations to leadership.
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate the claims function for liability, including subrogation, property claims and losses or damages, to minimize loss exposure.
  • Manage all property, liability and Worker's Compensation claims involved in litigation by coordinating with legal staff on court cases and represent the company in such matters.
  • Manage insurance broker agreements and interactions with insurers, underwriters, and adjustors as needed.
  • Maintain all relevant insurance policies, create summaries of key coverage and limitations for key policies.
  • Secure, maintain and track all relevant certificates.
  • Compile and prepare all relevant company information for brokers and insurers in connection with renewal and marketing of all insurance policies.
  • Assist in the Authority's property valuation records and analyze information to maintain proper values and the nature of risk.
  • Prepare and present risk assessments, reports, and correspondence for departmental and executive leadership use.
  • Develop, direct, and oversee contingency plans for emergency and crisis management including processing and managing all Risk Management Hurricane programs, procedures, and resulting FEMA claims.
  • Conduct risk assessments to define and analyze possible fraud, identify trends, and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Respond as backup for insurance management and claims management positions for all job vacancies or extended absences.
  • Assist in the administration and handling of the Commercial and Motor Vehicle Records Program.
  • Identify risk exposure and prepare methods for mitigating risk and reducing loss exposure.
  • Lead and assist with staff and departmental training on Risk Management Policies.
  • Oversee and help to direct and develop the transportation compliance and commercial licenses programs.
  • Participate in 24-hour on-call duty for Risk Management team to assess liability exposures and administer the drug and alcohol testing policy.
  • Perform special projects assigned by the Director of Risk Management and Sustainability or the Chief Administrative Officer.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of insurance and claims. Extensive knowledge of legal issues related to organizational liability and insurance trends. Promote organization-wide understanding about risks and risk management strategies. Experience in a supervisory position performing staff level work desired. Ability to work independently and prepare recommendations and/or reports for managment. Ability to exercise positive leadership with people. Ability to deal effectively and professionally with the GPA staff on all levels as well as customers and the general public required. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Education and/or Experience
Four-year college degree required. Five years of related work, management, and supervisory experience desired.

Other Requirements:
Must meet the criteria for and obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC). Valid state driver's license required.
