Library Director – Greater Clarks Hill Regional Library System
The Board of Trustees for the Greater Clarks Hill Regional Library System is seeking a new Library Director. As a leader and advocate for the Library, the ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to the principles of professional library services. The ideal candidate will have a solid technical background, proficient interpersonal management skills, and exceptional listening and communication skills. The Library Director is also a leader in the community and should possess strong writing and public speaking abilities.
GCH comprises 8 library facilities across four counties in east central Georgia, headquartered in Evans, Georgia. Evans, Georgia, was voted one of the Best Towns for Families by Family Circle Magazine. This rating was based on affordable housing, quality schools, access to health care, green space, low crime rates and financial stability. The town is home to beautiful landscapes, a classy medley of unique restaurants and shops, and exciting outdoor activities. Our communities value and support these libraries; they are busy, active, and creative places that support early literacy, community engagement, and educational / cultural programming.
Responsibilities
Reporting to a nine-member regional board of trustees, the Library Director will :
- Attend and support board meetings.
- Develop library policies, including the development and implementation of the library’s strategic and long-range plans.
- Submit annual reports to the state of Georgia.
- Compile operational statistics.
- Manage library finances and budgeting.
- Implement organizational procedures and oversee personnel management.
- Supervise multiple managers directly and provide staff with opportunities for professional development and continuing education.
- Represent the organization at civic meetings.
- Develop positive community partnerships.
- Maintain professional certifications and lead staff and organization in a forward-moving direction.
- Oversee library technologies, direct collection development philosophies, and ensure quality materials are available to the public.

Compensation
The hiring salary range is $85,000-95,000 (with placement negotiable dependent on experience and qualifications) and an excellent fringe benefits package.
