What are the responsibilities and job description for the Admissions Counselor position at Georgia Southwestern State University?
This position is responsible for assisting in the recruitment activities of the Admissions Office.
Responsibilities
Assists in recruiting new students. (60%)
Travels to high schools, college fairs, and Probe fairs to recruit students.
Plans and coordinates an extensive travel schedule to include ~100 days of visits/fairs at high schools and 50-80 nights in a hotel.
Guides prospective students through the admissions and enrollment process.
Maintain extensive communication with prospective students through text, email, phone, video messages, and in-person contact.
Utilize office technological resources including TargetX, the CRM for the university, to effectively recruit students.
Assists in coordinating recruitment events such as STORM day, Preview Day, and Accepted Student's Day.
Reviews admissions applications. (20%)
Processes student applications, high school transcripts, and SAT/ACT scores to make admission decisions.
Communicate with students regarding their needed documents.
Conducts administrative procedures. (15%)
Answers emails and phone calls.
Processes documents received by prospective students .
Performs related duties. (5%)
Performs related duties.
Must be able to lift 40 pounds to deliver materials for recruitment to various sites.
Must be outgoing, energetic, and enthusiastic, with excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to relate to young people.
Must be able to strategically plan and organize a recruitment travel schedule to maximize the number of visits and efficiently use the travel budget.
Previous college admissions experience desirable.

Educational Requirements
A Baccalaureate degree in a field related to the occupational area, earned from an accredited university, is required. Applicants graduating in spring or summer 2025 are also encouraged to apply.

Extensive travel is involved; therefore employee must have a reliable means of transportation to use for recruitment travel (mileage reimbursement given).
Proposed Salary
This position offers a starting salary of $40,938.31 annually.
