What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shuttle Van Driver (PT) position at Georgia Southwestern State University?
This position is responsible for shuttling GSW students to specified locations throughout Americus/Sumter County.
Responsibilities
Shuttles GSW students to specified locations. (65%) Stays in constant communication via cellular phone or similar communications service to coordinate passenger pick-up and unloading schedules. Provides friendly and courteous service at all times, particularly while transporting passengers, and ensures passengers are delivered to their destination within the time schedule allotted, no matter the weather, traffic or road conditions. Maintain trip logs which provide details such as passenger count, route details, etc. Observes all Georgia driving regulations and laws, policies and procedures. Picks students up a pre-determined locations on the GSW campus. Maintains a log of students using the shuttle services. Brings students back to residence hall drop off areas on campus.

(30%) Performs and documents vehicle pre-trip interior and exterior inspections before operating vehicle at the start of the shift and reports any vehicle faults. Plans routine maintenance checks with Materials Management. Continuously observes all safety and security procedures and when necessary determines appropriate action beyond guidelines and immediately reports any potentially unsafe condition. Checks emails daily for updates. Works with students and other departments on campus.
Performs related duties. (5%)
Required Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent required. Minimum 1 year relevant work experience which includes operating a vehicle transporting passengers is preferred. Basic computer skill proficiency including MS Office Suite. Ability to work flexible hours which may include nights, weekends, holidays, special events and overtime. Valid and current Georgia driver's license, minimum Class C with passenger endorsement; ability to meet DDS vision requirements. Ability to lift 50 pounds. Current First Aid, CPR and/or AED certification is preferred. Must pass initial drug testing and random and/or post-accident drug testing throughout employment while employed in this classification.
