What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part Time - Professional Laboratory Assistant - Culinary Department Baking/Pastry position at Georgia state government?
Savannah Technical College seeks a Part-Time Professional Laboratory Technician to assist the Culinary Department. The Professional Laboratory Technician will be responsible for the following duties (the list is not intended to be exhaustive):
• Assisting faculty members with classroom instruction, exams, record keeping, adherence to safety procedures, tracking attendance and other miscellaneous tasks related to instruction
• Tutor or mentor students
• Perform laboratory research
• Clean labs as needed
• Obtain materials needed for classes, including texts and other materials
• Assist in school sponsored events, fundraisers and other various activities pertaining to the Culinary Arts and Pastry Arts program
• Assist with maintaining inventory organization
Minimum Qualifications

Must be ServSafe Manager certified

Must have 2 years of verifiable entry level experience within the hospitality field
Preferred Qualifications
-
Associate's Degree from an accredited culinary arts program

Preference will be given to those candidates who have a Bachelor's Degree or Master's in Education or related field with extensive coursework in curriculum development/design
Physical Demands
Responsibilities are typically performed in a lab environment with the employee intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling for up to three (3) – four (4) continuous hours at a time. The employee frequently lifts lightweight objects up to 25LBS. The exposure to dirt, dust, chemicals, fumes, and hazardous materials is possible in the laboratory environment. The ability to distinguish colors and finger dexterity is required.

Salary is commensurate with education and work experience.
