Job Description

The Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) Colorado Springs Field Office (COSFO) is seeking a highly motivated Computer Science/STEM Intern to support the office’s IT and administrative operations for Summer 2025. The internship offers an exciting opportunity in the Sensors and Electromagnetic Applications Laboratory (SEAL) to gain hands-on experience in IT equipment management, network planning, and general office administration while preparing the COSFO for its relocation to a new facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • IT Equipment Management
  • Inventory existing IT equipment.
  • Create a tracking system (e.g., spreadsheet) for IT assets to be passed on to permanent staff.
  • Identify obsolete equipment and coordinate disposition in collaboration with GTRI/SEAL/RSG teams.
  • IT Requirements Planning
  • Assess IT requirements (e.g., monitors, docking stations) for the new office location.
  • Determine gaps between current inventory and future needs, specifying quantities and types of required equipment.
  • Collaborate with SEAL/RSG and Classified Networks to develop a plan ensuring all necessary equipment is in place prior to relocation.
  • Assist in classified network planning for the new office location at 2424 Garden of the Gods.
  • IT Support
  • Provide local IT support for audiovisual equipment, WIFI settings, firmware updates, and other issues as directed by SEAL RSG and Classified Networks.
  • Administrative Support

Perform general administrative tasks, including submitting ABFRs, ordering office supplies, and assisting with scheduling and travel planning, as task timelines allow.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Intern

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 2.0 or higher cumulative GPA
  • Full-Time Intern- Must be registered for Full-time Internship Credit
  • Part-Time Intern– Must be registered for 6 credit hours
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
  • Basic knowledge of IT systems and equipment
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with inventory tracking systems and spreadsheet creation.
  • Familiarity with audiovisual equipment and IT troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of classified network operations and protocols.
  • Active security clearance (preferred but not required).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Hours per Week

Full-Time: 40 hours per week

Part-Time: 10–20 hours per week

U.S. Persons Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Persons.

Clearance Type Required

Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
