The Office of Information Technology (OIT) provides information technology leadership and support to the Georgia Institute of Technology, working in partnership with academic and business units to meet the unique needs of a leading research university. OIT serves as the primary source of enterprise-wide information technology and telecommunications services in support of students, faculty, staff, and researchers.

Job Summary

Under general direction provide advanced level expertise and technical leadership required in the installation, configuration and maintenance of networked information systems. Normally assigned more complex aspects of developing and supporting network solutions. This position will interact on a consistent basis with : Network Services management and staff, user management, team members. This position typically will advise and counsel : Lower level team members. This position will supervise : NA.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -

Monitor and manage network infrastructures and software.

Job Duty 2 -

Test and evaluate network systems.

Job Duty 3 -

Provide technical and analytical support to the development of new networking methodologies, technology or software.

Job Duty 4 -

Develop or lead others in development of project or system related documentation.

Job Duty 5 -

Provide feedback and strategic recommendations to management.

Job Duty 6 -

Develop technical processes supporting networked systems.

Job Duty 7 -

May deliver presentations related to assigned area(s) of systems support.

Job Duty 8 -

Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience

Four to six years of job related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years of experience in data networking.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with AWS, Azure, and / or Google Cloud networking services.
  • Experience with BGP Routing and cloud peering technologies such as VPNs or Direct Connect / ExpressRoute.
  • Experience supporting Palo Alto virtual firewalls and the Panorama management platform.
  • Experience with on-premises to cloud migrations and hybrid architectures.
  • Ability to develop and enforce security polices, access controls, and compliance measures for cloud-based resources.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, or equivalent).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • AWS Certified Advanced Networking Specialty
  • Microsoft Azure Network Engineer Associate
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNA) or equivalent

Budget $98,261

This job requires advanced level design and maintenance skills in network architecture including applicable systems and network software and hardware.
