About the School of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology
The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering Program at the Georgia Institute of Technology is a vibrant and intellectually distinct School with people who are using new technologies to expand the notion of what it means to be civil and environmental engineers in the 21st Century. Atlanta, GA
Bras Research Group at the School of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology seeks a postdoctoral researcher with expertise in soil moisture modeling, remote sensing, and hydrology. The research focuses on estimating conditional soil moisture based on satellite precipitation and soil moisture states at a global scale using NASA's remote sensing rainfall (GPM/TRMM) and soil moisture (SMAP) observations. The postdoctoral researcher will be supervised by Dr. Rafael Bras (rlbras@gatech.edu) at Georgia Tech.
PhD in Hydrology, Soil Science, Climate/Earth Science, Engineering, or related area.
- Experience with SMAP and/or GPM databases would be desirable.
- Strong probability and statistics background, quantitative skills, and proficiency in at least one of the programming languages (i.e., Python, R, Matlab).
- Experience working with Unix/Linux platforms, handling sizeable spatial data sets.
- A track record of publications and presentations, particularly peer-reviewed publications on pertinent subject matters.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
