Job Purpose: Healthcare data analysts perform various functions, including collecting, storing, retrieving, and presenting data that supports clinical and business decisions. They are responsible for data mining, development, and preparation of data to provide useful information for internal and external stakeholders.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Gather and interpret data from a variety of sources, including financial reports, electronic medical records, billing claims, scheduling systems, and data information repositories, to help organizations lower the cost of care, and optimize revenue.
- Analyze, verify, and load payer contracts and reimbursement terms and data sets into billing systems.
- Review payment variances to determine if billing system was loaded incorrectly or if the payer’s payment is erroneous.
- Report and present financial insights from the analysis of data from healthcare claims, financial systems and data repositories.
- Responsible for discovering discrepancies and patterns in available healthcare data.
- Responsible for standard and ad-hoc extracts/reports across multiple primary and secondary data sources.
- Design and create dashboards and reports.
- Provide reports and presentations to internal and external customers.
- Offer suggestions on ways to improve cost effectiveness and revenue optimization.
- Track on-going outcomes reports and manage priorities for upcoming reports.
- Build models that capture a wide range of healthcare delivery data.
- Provide statistical analysis of large and complex datasets and ensure accuracy in analysis.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Education/Training
- Bachelor’s degree in Financial Management, Accounting, Business, Health Informatics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, or a related field.
- Experience in quantitative analysis with a demonstrated focus in statistics and analytics, as well as strong mastery of excel, access, Power BI or Tableau to query and extract data.
- Experience in data collection, and analysis working with very large data sets is a plus.
- Knowledgeable in SQL-Server, including stored procedures, table definitions and queries; an understanding of healthcare claims processing, rules, and regulations.
- Knowledgeable with Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), data management systems, and financial systems (Sage Intacct or other related systems).

- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office tools, Power BI or Tableau.
- Ability to analyze, explain, and draw logical conclusions based on complex data from multiple content areas.
- Ability to clearly articulate ideas and concepts both verbally and in writing.
- Must be organized, able to prioritize tasks, and work effectively on multiple assignments.
Driving Requirements: A valid State of Georgia Driver's License and reliable transportation is required.
Physical Requirements: Work Environment: Normal office environment with minimal physical demands.
