Medical Customer Service Specialist - Patient Call Center

Georgia Urology is seeking a Medial Customer Service representative to join our Call Center Team. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and a passion for helping others.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Provides exceptional customer service via phone.
• Answers questions from patients, office staff, and insurance companies.
• Identifies and resolves patient billing complaints.
• Evaluates patient's financial status and establishes budget payment plans.
• Reviews accounts for possible assignment and makes recommendations to the Team Lead, also prepares information for the collection agency.
• Performs various collection actions including collecting payments from patients by phone, correcting insurance, resubmitting claims, and prepares patient refunds.
• Conducts self in accordance with GU's employee manual.
• Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge:

Education/Training

• High School Diploma or GED.

Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of medical billing/collection practices.
• Knowledge of business office procedures.
• Ability to operate a multi-line telephone system.
• Skill in answering a telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner.
• Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees and the public.
• Must be well organized and detail oriented.

Computer literacy:

• Ability to operate a computer and basic office equipment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Physical Demands: Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment. Manual dexterity is needed for using a calculator and computer keyboard.
