Job Overview:
Rapp GMC, a leading automotive dealership in Syracuse, NY, is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Payable/Receivable Clerk to join our accounting team. This position will be responsible for handling day-to-day financial transactions, ensuring timely and accurate processing of payables and receivables, and supporting the finance department in maintaining financial records.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable
- Process and review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval.
- Prepare and issue payments via check, ACH, wire transfer, or other methods as required.
- Reconcile accounts payable transactions and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain vendor relationships and respond to inquiries regarding payment status.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
Accounts Receivable:
- Process incoming payments and apply them to customer accounts.
- Generate and send out customer invoices.
- Follow up with customers on overdue accounts and assist in collections.
- Reconcile accounts receivable ledgers and ensure accuracy of payments.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies or payment issues.
- General Responsibilities:
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records.
- Support internal and external audit requests.
- Collaborate with other departments to resolve financial issues.
- Provide general administrative support to the accounting department as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- 2 years of experience in accounts payable and receivable or similar accounting role.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with vendors, customers, and internal teams.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
