What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electro-Mechanical Assembler (IPC Certification for Soldering) position at Geospace Technologies Corporation?
Duties/Responsibilities:
This position is held by a semi-skilled worker who can confidently read assembly drawings and electrical schematics. Determine the tools and procedures to use in fabricating the job. Then perform quality checks to determine conformance with published standards, and make calculations to verify quality and productivity standards have been met.
Job may require the following:
- Reading plans, specifications or instructions to find out the tasks to complete.
- Ensuring that your place of work is safe and tidy.
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Inspect components for uniformity and quality
- Data entry of test results
- Work in an ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) environment
- Must be comfortable in wearing ESD gear
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions
- Working on an assembly line to inspect, clean, and/or package product
- Familiarity with standard power and hand tools.
- Ability to operate machines.
- Housekeeping: Janitorial work in assigned workspace daily.
- Working in a steady paced environment to ensure production goals are met.
- May be standing, sitting, bending up to 12 hours.
- Must be able to lift up to 30-50lbs as needed.
- Knowledge and ability to use torque wrenches to adjust parts and equipment, or install parts/ equipment, following established specifications and procedures.
- The ability to write effectively, to read and understand work documents and to communicate information clearly to coworkers and supervisor in English.
Working Conditions & Safety Concerns:
Works in well-lighted factory generally seated at a workbench; wears safety glasses; may be required to wear steel-toed shoes depending on the product line assigned.
Skills/Experience:
This is a semi-skilled position requiring 2 years experience in a similar capacity.
Soldering candidates are expected to have IPC Certification or have the skill level to immediately receive IPC Certification.
Mechanical Assembly candidates may be expected to work from assembly drawings and schematics to assemble equipment, including wiring.
Must demonstrate during the initial interview the ability to read assembly drawings and understand procedures written in English language
Education:
High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
IPC Certification required.
