As Engineering Manager, you will have the unique opportunity to build and lead a new sonar product engineering department. This role is perfect for someone with extensive management or senior leadership experience who is ready to take on a new challenge in a vibrant and supportive environment.
You will have a high degree of freedom and responsibility, including organization design, hiring, establishing processes, and ensuring the team meets the organization's strategic objectives. You will succeed when your people succeed, meaning it is critical to provide genuine and inspiring leadership which allows your people to meaningfully contribute and grow personally and professionally
Candidates with product engineering experience in the naval, marine, defence, or aerospace industries are strongly preferred, as well as those with backgrounds in agile or scrum methodologies. The new departments product mandate will include firmware and controls, power and electronics, and mechanical and marine systems.

Responsibilities
- Build a highly engaged sonar product engineering team through inspirational leadership, talent acquisition, employee development, and retention planning.
- Structure the department with appropriate organization, roles, and staff to meet division/company needs.
- Make technical decisions and provide oversight on technical decision-making process to ensure best engineering practice is used.
- Role model and champion GeoSpectrums vision, priorities, culture, and values.
- Develop and implement departmental goals and objectives in alignment with the companys mission and values.
- Proactively communicate organization, department and individual goals, set clear expectations, and manage employee performance.
- Provide your department with the necessary tools, infrastructure, and facilities for safe and efficient work.
- Develop and establish product engineering processes and best practices.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
- Substantial experience inmanaging engineering teams, departments, and people.
- Significant hardware product engineering experience with deep knowledge of best practice.
- Experience in marine, defence, or aerospace engineering is highly desirable.
- Experience and passion for agile development practice is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Experience in hiring and team building.
- Passion for fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Security Requirements
