What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Technician position at GeoStrata?
GeoStrata is currently seeking hardworking laboratory and field technicians to support our growing office at 2487 Industrial Boulevard Suite #1 in Grand Junction, Colorado. This is an immediate need for local and remote projects across the Western United States. The successful candidate will provide accurate field and laboratory data critical for project completion in accordance with project plans. Construction plan reading, experience on construction sites, materials testing experience, and a strong work ethic a plus. Most work will be on aviation projects in western states, must be able to pass a background check by FAA and have valid driver's license.
Responsibilities
> Assist in research, data collection, field investigations and construction observations, acquiring samples and testing of soils, concrete and asphalt at local and remote laboratories. Understanding of basic calculations and material properties. General daily report writing and correspondence with Project management.
> Perform laboratory testing on soils, asphalt and concrete, including but not limited to - Modified and standard Proctors, nuclear density testing, Atterberg limits, sieve analysis, collapse, consolidation, concrete field properties and laboratory compressive strength, asphalt oil content, theoretical specific gravity, bulk specific gravity, Marshall and gyratory air voids testing.
> Communicate data, issues and concepts to construction supervisor and project management and teams.
> Perform routine equipment and laboratory cleaning and maintenance.
> Perform routine verification of laboratory equipment as required by the QMS
> Perform sample collection per ASTM and AASHTO standards.

Qualifications
> High School Diploma or GED. Any secondary education a plus
> Certifications on concrete, soils and asphalt, and familiarity with testing procedures
-ACI Concrete Field Technician Grade 1
-ACI Concrete Construction Special Inspector
-WAQTC, Agg Plus (AgTT Plus), Embankment (EbTT), Laboratory (LbTT, Asphalt 2 (AsTT 2)
-CAPA (asphalt)
-NICET I or II
-APNGA Nuclear Density Gauge / HAZMAT
-ICC or IBC special inspections a plus
> Valid Driver's license and ability to pass a background check by FAA
> Able and willing to travel, usually 50 to 60% out of town during construction season, truck and travel expenses provided by GeoStrata. Typical project duration 2 to 6 weeks. Immediate projects in Northern California, Nevada, Utah and Wyoming.
> Willing to work outside of normal business hours when projects require. Overtime pay in excess of 40 hrs/week.
>Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
